Known for his musical symphonies, Ludwig Van Beethoven was born today, 17th December 1770 in Germany. Beethoven displayed musical talent at an early age and he went on to compose some of his best work in the last fifteen years of his life. His hearing began to deteriorate in his early 30s and he turned almost deaf in the last few years of his life.

Some of his famous works include his Fifth Symphony, Fur Elise, and the Moonlight Sonata.

Many countries have issued stamps in honour of this musical legend including Germany, Mexico, and India.
